Manchester United has no intention to leave the Premier League and is adamant that, considering the proposed formation of a Super League, they will be able to compete domestically.

The tournament’s plans were formally announced late Sunday evening, and the vast majority of football authorities and fans have slammed them.

The Premier League has threatened to expel United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, and Tottenham if they go ahead with their plans, but it is known that despite the intimidation, the Red Devils are optimistic of maintaining their position in the league.

“The Premier League is proud to run a dynamic and compelling football competition that has made it the most widely watched league in the world,” the league said in a statement on Sunday. Our success has allowed us to make a financial contribution to the domestic football pyramid that is unrivaled.

“A European Super League will stifle the game’s popularity and have a significant negative effect on the Premier League and its member clubs’ immediate and long-term prospects, as well as all those in football who depend on our funding and unity to thrive.”

United sources emphasized that the Super League plans did not imply that the club intended to leave the Premier League and that playing in the domestic competition was still necessary.

Because of the proposed format for the new European league, those games would be played in the middle of the week, while domestic action would continue at the weekend.

According to club sources, the creation of a Super League would not dilute the competitive essence of the Premier League because there will “always be the battle to become champions,” and they are sure that the Premier League’s powers-that-be will not kick out all six clubs who have signed up.
