The former defender of the Red Devils says that there were no talks in the Old Trafford boardroom about a change of manager.

The club’s ties to Mauricio Pochettino have been slammed by Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand, with the former defender saying no negotiations have been held and that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer deserves more respect.

Murmurs of change are nothing new in the Old Trafford dugout, with rumors surfacing every time a disappointing outcome is released.

There were so many of those who were late, contributing to Solskjaer seeing his position challenged.

Last time out, a 3-1 win over Everton seems to have relieved some of the strain, but ties to the likes of former Tottenham manager Pochettino continue to do the rounds.

Ferdinand is saddened to see a coach doing the best he can with an uneven squad facing more unwelcome rumors, particularly as he sees no substance to such conversation, with everyone pulling in the same direction in the United camp on and off the field.

“This weekend, Man United needed a big performance and a result,” Ferdinand said on his FIVE channel on YouTube.

This team and the management were completely under pressure, they went out there and they delivered.

There was a bit of disrespect in the media for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, to be honest. People who proclaim that Pochettino has been spoken to.

I got it from a really, really, really good source that no conversations had taken place and that they wouldn’t disrespect Ole Gunnar Solskjaer that way. I feel like it needs to be discussed.

We can all say, ‘So and so it’s going to be nice or better,’ which is just part of the game. But to say someone has been talked to and is coming in imminently, I think that’s out of order because it’s not real.

“The man is at work and his team has found the opportunity to always get a result when they need one, and there was no difference, they were solid.”

United have the international break to devise a plan that will enable them to build much-needed momentum, having made a welcome return to winning ways.

On November 21, with a home date against struggling West Brom, they are due to return to Premier League action.
