Again, Manchester United makes contact with Mauricio Pochettino.

During his foray into punditry earlier this week, the former Tottenham manager was transparent about his desire to get back into management and he could be handpicked to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ‘s struggle.

The Red Devils have lost back-to-back fixtures to Arsenal and now Istanbul Basaksehir, and this weekend’s loss against Everton could push club boss Ed Woodward to rethink his future options.

As first mentioned last month, it now seems as if Pochettino tops the list of potential replacements.

Manchester Evening News announced that the United bosses had requested a major change in performance and had already made contact with Pochettino ‘s representatives in preparation.

Senior club figures made contact with Pochettino ‘s camp following the dismal 6-1 thrashing by Tottenham at Old Trafford, as reported exclusively by Daily Star Sport last month.

It was known that during the last international break, Woodward was not ready to sack the Norwegian, but now he wants to see a major change in results in the Premier League.

With two wins from six matches, United sits 15th in the league, pushing their boss to discuss his future.

After their Champions League winning form ended, he said: “I refuse to comment on such a matter.”

It is early on, of course, and opinions are out there all the time. You must stay strong. I’m employed to do a job by the club and I do it with my employees to the best of my ability.

Working with this group of players, Ole will lose his job as surely as night follows day.

We all like Ole, he’s a good guy, but he’s not going to be under the illusion that the pressure now is going to grow the longer it goes on. I never thought that United was going to get near Liverpool or Manchester City anywhere.

Forget that, but they’re not in any race at this point. They’re merely drifting. This season, we were kind of building up for Ole to be made or break. It’s not looking positive for him at this moment in time.’
