A grandad who posted pornographic pictures of kids with other pedophiles was incarcerated in a chat room called ‘PervsRUs.’

Robert Blackband, 67, also was part of a group named ‘Schoolgirls’ and had sexualized discussions with other members about children.

The Manchester Evening News claims that he was found with more than 400 obscene videos, including 139 category A photos – said to be the worst kind.

On March 29, 2019, police searched his home in Rochdale, Greater Manchester, discovering photos and videos on his iPhone and device.

Web searches relating to obscene photos and the Kitkat app were discovered by police, Manchester’s Minshull Street Crown Court heard.

He later confessed that he was part of the ‘PervsRUs’ party.

Blackband confessed to making and sharing children’s indecent pictures and was jailed for two-and-a-half years on Thursday.

Prosecutor Mark Brookes said police searched his home on suspicion that someone from the address was sharing the photos.

“When asked if he was responsible, he said: ‘Oh, I have for a few days now’,” he said.

The defendant used the alias ‘TomBlack’ and was a member of a group that involved the distribution of schoolgirl photographs called ‘Schoolgirls.’

He was also a member of another group that had 33 participants, and pictures were sent between members and received.

He admitted to the officers that his phone was his, and he said he used the phone to let others know, and he confirmed that he was looking for the word “schoolgirl.”

“He also admitted that he was involved with a ‘PervsRUs’ website, which was another chat room where pictures are shared by people.”

The court heard that 139 images of category A were observed, two of which were distributed, and 63 images of category B, one of which was distributed.

There were also 233 images from category C, of which eight were distributed.

196 different Kitkat chats were identified by officers on the phone, the court heard.

In June 2018, Blackband had prior arrests, including driving over the alcohol limit.

Judge Tina Landale said: “It is clear from the evidence in the case that you have been actively searching on the internet for indecent images of children.”

“You were talking about what you would do or think about doing with a child, and men were asking you to send them photos.”

Anthony Morris, defending, said in mitigation: “He was unable to admit total responsibility at the beginning, as he could not remember the conversations.”

“He bit the bullet. He cherishes what he was doing was not a criminal offense as is sometimes suggested.”

Any of his actions may be due to a recent attack on him and an attempted suicide, he said.

Blackband was made the target of an order for the prevention of sexual harm and ordered to sign the registry of sex offenders.
