French side, after a string of disappointing results, Nantes fired their coach, Christian Gourcuff.
The last straw was the 4-0 loss over the weekend to the battling Strasbourg.
On an interim basis, Gourcuff, 65, who joined in August 2019, is being replaced by assistant Patrick Collot.
The club said in a statement:
As of Tuesday, December 8, 2020, ‘FC Nantes and Christian Gourcuff have agreed to end their partnership.’
Christian Gourcuff, who arrived on August 8, 2019, a few days before the start of the 2019-2020 season, during his stay on the banks of the Erdre, would have brought his vision of football and all his experience to the professional community.’
‘FC Nantes would like to sincerely thank the Breton technician for his experience and wish him the best for the future.’
The trained staff will be under the orders of Patrick Collot, who will serve as interim, from today onwards. Members of the existing technical team will assist him in this mission.’
At the moment, Nantes is 14th in the table on 13 points from 13 matches. From their last four matches, they have picked up two points.
