Nigeria is at the hands of terrorists because we are denied weapons – Lai Mohammed says

Lai Mohammed, the minister of media and culture, commented on the weekend killing of 43 rice farmers by Boko Haram insurgents in Borno province.

Speaking during a courtesy visit on Monday, November 30 to Governor Samuel Ortom of the state of Benue, the minister said that Nigeria is now at the hands of terrorists because they are denying the right to buy weapons.

The killing was identified by Lai Mohammed as “unfortunate” and further claimed that terrorists use oxygen in the media and ads.

He said;

When we speak of terrorism, it appears like people do not appreciate that terrorism is not a local problem, that it is a global issue, and that no region of the world has its own pocket of terrorism.

But you must also remember that we are struggling with internationally funded terrorists and we need more assistance from foreign allies as well. Nigeria, for example, has tried to acquire a stronger and more efficient mechanism to deal with terrorism, but for one cause or the other, we have been refused this platform, these weapons, and we remain at the hands of terrorists without sufficient weapons or platform.

You know, fighting terrorism is not a joke and it’s unfortunate what really happened in Borno County, but you have to look at the terrorists’ tactics as well.

Tv and ads are used by criminals as oxygen, or when they embark on this kind of senseless killing of civilians. It is not because not everything is being achieved by the administration.

Terrorism has the same meaning, whether in Afghanistan or elsewhere in the world, as a group of people who are militant in their minds and don’t believe you and I should be alive.
