Nigeria Troops Set ISWAP Fuel Storage Facilities On Fire

military operation 1

On Sunday, the LAFIYA DOLE Air Task Force destroyed some structures belonging to IS-affiliated jihadists, Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), including a suspected fuel storage facility at Tumbun Allura, the logistics hub for terrorists on the shores of Lake Chad in the northern part of the state of Borno.

It was learned that, following an intelligent report, the troops attached to the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) attack aircraft while carrying out the air raid targeted the suspected fuel dump, with a large number of jerry cans and barrels concealed and set on fire in the improvised structures within the settlement.

The Defence Headquarters, while confirming this on Monday through its coordinator, Defence Media Operations, Maj. Gen. John Enenche, added that in the process, several members of the terrorist group were eliminated.

“The air raid was carried out yesterday, 8 November 2020, on the heels of credible human intelligence reports as well as aerial surveillance missions that resulted in the identification of a command post and a suspected fuel dump, with a large number of jerry cans and barrels hidden within the settlement in improvised structures,” Enenche said.

The attack aircraft of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), dispatched by the Air Task Force to engage the location, scored precise hits in the target area, resulting in the destruction of the fuel dump of the terrorists, which was seen engulfed in flames. As a consequence of the airstrike, several ISWAP elements were also neutralized.
