During Joe Biden’s inaugural ceremony as U.S. president on Jan. 20, acting Capitol Police chief Yogananda Pittman said, there will be no public access to the Capitol grounds.
After he abruptly resigned amid criticism of the force’s handling of protesters who breached the Capitol building last week, Pittman took over the leadership from Steven Sund.
She said federal, state and local law enforcement were working together and there were comprehensive, coordinated plans in place to ensure safety.
As inquiries into the January 6 riot continue, several police officers have been suspended, she said.
