In a 30-minute video, he released and HumAngle saw, Shekau boasted that no one could arrest anyone. Shekau said, flanked by two of his members, that
Nobody can arrest me because I am doing the work of God. Like those who do similar work and seek his safety, he will protect me. I’m very confident my commanders will be covered by Heaven. We are all doing the work of God.’
The war will continue even after him, he promised.
Arresting me won’t interrupt the work that we’ve begun. What confuses you is that you feel that faith is mine, however it belongs to Allah,’ he said.
In the video, Shekau mocked the Nigerian army, saying they constantly told people that he had been killed even though he was still alive. He attributed Nigeria’s economic hardship to the vengeance of God against the country for its war against Boko Haram and its members.
