On Saturday, the former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, congratulated the elected US President, Joe Biden, on his victory.

Obasanjo described their victory as a “victory of good over evil” in a congratulatory message to Biden and Vice President-elect Kamal Harris.

He asked Biden to restore trust in America’s position as the world’s largest economy, which “has a very important responsibility for the world’s peace , security, stability and development.”

Obasanjo said, “I’m joining millions in the United States and the rest of the world to congratulate you, President-elect Joe Biden, on your victory.”

It is the triumph of good over evil, and it is not victory for you and the people of America alone, but victory for most of the world’s people, most of whom look helplessly at the world that has been slowly and painstakingly developed since the end of the Second World War.

Not that the world was ideal and equal, but with some measure of the rule of law and respect for international agreements and treaties, it was fairly predictable.

President-elect Joe Biden needs to restore faith in America’s status as the world’s largest economy with a very significant responsibility for the world’s peace, security, stability and development.

I congratulate Vice President-elect Kamala Harris on becoming the first female Vice-President of the United States.

“We’re proud of her performance in Africa.

Barrack Obama, the first African-American President of the United States, has Kenyan DNA in him and I am fairly sure that the first African-American female Vice-President-Elect of the United States would have some Nigerian DNA in her, as most of those taken from Africa to the Caribbean have left Nigeria today.

“Once again, congratulations and please accept the assurances of my utmost consideration.”

After surpassing the 270 minimum electoral college votes, Biden was supposed to be elected the President-elect.

President Donald Trump, however, has refused to admit defeat and, in some states, is currently questioning the results.
