Omar Rekik maintains that he suits well with Arsenal and did not think about moving twice

After arriving from Hertha Berlin, Omar Rekik is able to add a ‘winning’ mentality to Arsenal.

The 19-year-old international from Tunisia has signed for the Gunners and will join up with their Under-23 side.

To secure the highly-rated centre-half, Arsenal charged about £ 500,000.

Rekik was described as a priority for the club by Per Mertesacker, and he is now preparing for life in north London.

In the summer transfer window, Mikel Arteta missed out on a contract, but he has now brought in a defender who will look to impress in the second half of the season.

Discussing his football approach, Rekik insisted: “I’m a winner. I always want to win, and that’s all.”

After recent frustrating seasons under Arsene Wenger and Unai Emery, Arteta is still molding the senior squad into its own.

This season’s results indicate that it will be a gradual journey back to the top of the Premier League table, let alone the qualifying Champions League.

Arteta’s first goal as manager was to introduce his footballing ideology, and it seems Rekik fits the bill.

“I’m a central defender and I like to play with the ball, I like to play from the back, and I think this is the club’s structure as well,” he said. It suits almost perfectly.

The thrill of playing for the Gunners is undoubtedly something Rekik enjoys.
