For the 2013 murder of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp, the former Olympic competitor, identified as ‘Blade Runner,’ lives behind bars in South Africa.
During the night following Valentine’s Day, Pistorius, 33, shot model Reeva, 29, through their bathroom door-while he told the court he believed there was a burgular.
His former head teacher at school, Bill Schroder, 76, sporadically visited Pistorius in prison.
And he demonstrated, after his most recent tour, that the ex-athlete had taken on a radical new appearance.
On Sunday, he told the Sun that Pistorius had now grown a bushy beard and that his figure now looked a little plumper.
He has apparently given up on all exercise since then and is now also a smoker, altering his complexion entirely and rendering him unrecognizable from when he first went to prison in 2016.
Since he’s behind bars, there are no photographs of his new appearance.
Pistorius has also converted to God in another lifestyle shift and is preaching to his fellow in-mates.
In 2018, news suggested that he had been a spiritual leader at the Pretoria Atteridgeville Correctional Centre.
“At the time, his father, Henke, said:” I have no doubt that Oscar has changed the prison climate for the better, that he helps mediate between people and that he has a positive impact.
To give their lives meaning , purpose and some hope, he will feel he is making a difference to others who really wanted a difference to be made. Things have also changed for him as a result.
“It is an incredible story. They’re hardcore chaps, the trouble people in jail, but now they’re all meeting once or twice a week to obey the Bible.
Speaking of his visit to Pistorius earlier this year, Mr. Schroder, the former teacher, said: “What he really, really needs is forgiveness.”
I told him that if my daughter had been murdered, I doubt I would have forgiven him.
He is more worried than actually getting out on parole about forgiveness. Currently, he’s very scared of getting parole, since he thinks it’ll be a backlash.
