Despite the deteriorating security problems, the military is currently battling in some parts of the country, a total of 127 soldiers are leaving the Nigerian Army.

The soldiers, drawn from different army units around the world, are all junior cadres, most of whom are at the forefront of the field.

According to a memo seen by PREMIUM TIMES, the military personnel, comprising one Master Warrant Officer, three Warrant Officers, 22 Staff Sergeants, 29 Sergeants, 64 Corporals, seven Lance Corporals, and one Private, would disengage in May.

Since then, their formal disengagement has been authorized by the Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai, a lieutenant general.

There was no difference in the list of retiring soldiers between those on voluntary retirement and those leaving the army for medical reasons.

According to a memo signed by Brigadier General T. A. Gagariga, who declared the acceptance of their disengagement, all military assets in their possession are to be submitted to the 127 soldiers.

Army spokesman Sagir Musa did not respond to inquiries from Journalists about the resignation of the soldiers.

In the midst of security crises in the world, the exit of the 127 soldiers who have not reached retirement age or compulsory years of service is coming.

Their resignation comes after a greater number of their peers left en masse last July, a move that insiders in the military said was reflective of the forces’ low morale.

The nation is currently fighting the North-East Boko Haram rebels, North-West and North-Central armed robbers, and South-South terrorists and pirates.

In the past, the Nigerian Armed Forces, consisting of the Army, Navy and Air Force, had complained of inadequate manpower to assist in restoring sanitation in the region.
