Patients in Britain are turning down the Pfizer vaccine, ‘since they want the English one’

In order to “wait for the English one,” a flustered high-profile NHS doctor has said people are turning down the chance to get the Pfizer coronavirus vaccine.

Dr. Paul Williams, former Stockton South MP, who evaluates people with symptoms of coronavirus in Hartlepool and Stockton, says the remarks are “a reminder that nationalism has repercussions,” reports GetSurrey.

At the beginning of December, the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine was made available to patients, while the Oxford/AstraZeneca version was approved on 30 December.

Before switching to politics, Dr Williams was a GP, proceeded to see patients when he was an MP to maintain a bond with them, and has focused on the NHS’s battle against Covid-19 since being voted out in 2019.

He wrote in a tweet: “Some local patients turned down the offer to get a Covid vaccine this weekend when they found out that this was the Pfizer one.” ‘I’ll wait for the one in English.’

Death-risk people in the depths of a pandemic. A lesson that has repercussions for nationalism.

Since then, the tweet has been posted over 500 times and ‘liked’ more than 1.7k times.

He explained that the Oxford vaccine would later be offered to those patients, but time could be against them.
