PDP, APC Battles Filthy Over Billions ‘Stolen’ From Gov’t Coffers

The governing All Progressive Congress (APC) and the Democratic People’s Party (PDP) have clashed over money allegedly looted from 1999 to 2021 by successive administrations.

In a recent speech, APC Caretaker Committee Secretary Senator John J. Akpan Udoedehe said the 16-year administration of the PDP was marked by “looting of public funds,” adding that the party should spare Nigerians from the pain of a “disaster” reminder.

“The party said, “After the descent of the PDP, the CBN’S VAULT was thrown open and practically abandoned professionalism by going through the cankerworm of revelations; where people drove in to cart away raw cash as political bosses and without recourse to paperwork and inflationary repercussions.

“We must remind all patriotic Nigerians, once again, of the $20 billion that was missing from the government coffers, as reported by the number 1 banker of the then country (Sanusi Lamido Sanusi).”

Monies (Billions of Naira for the importation of weapons) were allegedly discovered by the South African officials in private jets belonging to ‘lies of the then government’ in faraway South Africa, but no questions were asked and no answers were provided by the Nigerian government. Indeed, there were fairgrounds for a cover up.

Over $16 billion, as was the still-rotten announcement from public hearings that the PDP government shared with friends in the name of power sector reforms, but nothing to show for it. That much was known in the report of the Elumelu Committee.

Billions of dollars allegedly budgeted for the importation of weapons to combat terrorism, particularly Boko Haram, ended up in the private accounts of politicians and their cronies who were infested by the Dasukigate scandal.

The PDP wasted billions of dollars to buy clout and support for its ill-fated political ambitions from marabouts, clerics and traditional rulers.

Projects worth billions of Naira were totally abandoned after appropriations were properly budgeted, and diverted to fulfill private ambitions. During the PDP age, also in the Governor’s Forum elections, power became right in all elections; 16 became greater than 19, the party added.

‘Account for the looted N15 trillion’

Reacting, the PDP demanded the APC to account for N15 trillion allegedly looted by its leaders in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan.

The PDP assures that these shenanigans will not save the APC and its accused leaders from reacting to atrocities that include the robbery of over N15 trillion public funds, the manipulation of the Buhari government, and the importation of terrorists and bandits that are now rampaging up for 2019 general elections, killing innocent Nigerians, particularly in our nation’s northern parts.

We know that the APC attack is a desperate diversionary strategy as more revelations continue to surface about how our national treasury was pillaged by its leaders and some presidential officials and looted over N15 trillion naira and how the APC has been patronizing bandits with our national wealth.

As outlined in the leaked NNPC memo, the APC was shaken due to pressure from the PDP and other well-meaning Nigerians asking President Buhari to go after APC leaders as well as presidential officials involved in the alleged theft of N9.6 trillion ($25 billion) oil revenue.

APC leaders have sleepless nights because the dragnet will soon catch up with all of them involved in the alleged stealing of N1.1 trillion worth of crude using 18 unregistered vessels; the robbery of more than N2 trillion in the hazy oil subsidies regime, including a criminal under-recovery for unidentified West African countries, as well as illicit tax per liter of petrol flowing into trillions of naira.

In addition to the N90 billion looted from the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), in a scam in which some top APC leaders were reported to have earned N3 billion each, APC leaders are also jittery because they will soon justify how they siphoned N500bn Social Investment Program and the N16bn intended for Mosquito Net Programme, as revealed by First Lady Aisha Buhari.

Very senior officials in the Buhari Presidency have been compromised by their alleged participation in the theft of N33 billion NEMA funds, as revealed in the House of Representatives’ findings that, among other things, the funds were never used for the provision of emergency food for victims of the Northeast insurgency.

“The party said, “Some well-known APC leaders are now running amok over their involvement in the siphoning of the N48 billion meant for the rebuilding of six insurgency-ravaged northeast states as well as the theft of N25 billion, among others, from the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).
