Dwight Yorke has shared his assumption that “pure jealousy” stems from criticism of Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer while saying “people don’t want to see him be successful”

Solskjaer is currently in charge at Old Trafford in the middle of his second full season, having been named back in March 2019 as Jose Mourinho’s permanent replacement in the dugout.

The Norwegian led the Red Devils to a third-place Premier League finish and last term to three semi-finals, taking along the way the likes of Harry Maguire, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Bruno Fernandes to support his cause.

Ahead of the 2020-21 initiative, which has so far been a hugely fruitful one for the Manchester outfit, Edinson Cavani, Alex Telles and Donny van de Beek were also employed.

For the first time since Sir Alex Ferguson’s departure eight years ago, United soared to the top-flight summit after the new year, having posted 12 wins, four draws and just three losses from their opening 19 fixtures.

Despite the fact that he oversaw steady improvement at the Theatre of Dreams, questions were raised about the credentials of Solskjaer during his tenure, taking the situation to a boiling point with an early Champions League exit at the beginning of December.

However, in the midst of extreme pressure to make a move, the Red Devils kept faith with a club legend, and since then they have been rewarded for their patience as the team has embarked on a streak of seven wins in all competitions from their last 10 matches.

Because of the fact that he was handed the managerial reins with little coaching experience, Yorke thinks Solskjaer was the target of an unjust witchhunt, as the triple winner told The Sun: “There is a lot of jealousy from within the game towards Ole.” For some reason, people don’t want to see him be good.

I looked at it and heard people talk about the football club, and it’s pure envy.

He didn’t do well in Cardiff and managed Molde to get one of the best football jobs in the country.

“The people in football are asking for a chance, and he’s got this one, and he’s won the jackpot.”

In recent weeks, the former United striker was pleased to see his old team-mate prove his doubters wrong, and has hailed his willingness to block negativity and adhere to his core values.
