President Muhammadu Buhari welcomed the arrival, after a successful human trial phase, of the first effective coronavirus vaccine.
In a statement Monday night by his spokesman, Garba Shehu, President Buhari responded to the news that the vaccine had registered 90 percent efficacy against the disease.
The President, who described the development as a major medical advancement milestone, warned that in order to protect people in all countries, the world must unite in facilitating equitable access and distribution of these vaccines.
“Buhari reaffirmed his earlier call that” only a people’s vaccine with equality and solidarity at its core can safeguard all of humanity and safely run our societies again. It is impossible to wait for a bold international agreement.’
