Following months of tensions between the two men, US President Donald Trump has sacked Defense Secretary Mark Esper.
Esper’s post-election dismissal was revealed in a tweet on Monday night on November 9, and comes as Trump continues to refuse to give President-elect Joe Biden the 2020 election over claims of mass voter fraud that have yet to be confirmed.
Trump said that Christopher Miller, a senior counter-terrorism official, will take over the top Pentagon job on an acting basis in the tweet announcing Esper’s sack.
“Chris will do a GREAT job!” Trump tweeted.
“Mark Esper has been terminated. I would like to thank him for his service.”
