In the midst of an alleged payment dispute with Inter, Real Madrid have refuted reports they want Achraf Hakimi back.

In the summer transfer, Hakimi completed a EUR 40 million (£36m/$45m) move to Inter, putting his three-year spell at Santiago Bernabeu to an end.

In four EUR 10 million installments, the Series A giants decided to pay the final fee, the first of which was originally due in December last year.

With Inter struggling financially in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, the two clubs reached a new agreement moving the payment date back to March, but Corriere Dello Sport has announced that Madrid is threatening to sue due to late payment.

The Italian publication also reported that the Blancos were willing to terminate the whole deal and re-sign Hakimi, but now the reigning La Liga champions have released an official statement setting the record straight.

“Real Madrid CF wants to state clearly with respect to the information published by Corriere dello Sport about the alleged conflict between our club and Inter Milan that such reports are outright false,” reads a statement on the club’s website.

As reported in the publication, Real Madrid did not need an alleged guarantee from Inter Milan at any time.

“In the case of Inter Milan, with whom Real Madrid has always maintained and managed to demonstrate excellent relations as a historic and friendly club, this is particularly true.”

Alejandro Camano, Hakimi’s agent, also denied the claims, telling FCInter1908.it: “I don’t know anything about that.”

We have got no calls from Madrid. At Inter, Achraf is satisfied and is just concentrating on doing his best for Inter.

“His goal is to win the Inter jersey, and there’s nothing else he’s thinking about.”

When they take a trip to Udinese in Serie A on Saturday evening, Hakimi will be back in contention for a place in Inter’s line up.
