Reece James handed two-game ban after using “abusive language” in England match

Chelsea ace Reece James will miss the next two matches in England after being given a UEFA suspension.

After the final whistle, the defender was sent off as the Three Lions were beaten last month at Wembley by Denmark.

The leaders of UEFA ruled that James used “abusive words” and handed out a two-game ban to Spanish referee Jesus Gil Manzano.

This means James is likely to miss out on Gareth Southgate’s squad for the clashes with Belgium and Iceland in the Nations League later this month.

Before going to Belgium for their ‘competitive’ clash, England will also face the Republic of Ireland in a friendly.

To help him improve, James was determined to use his red card, having already seen Harry Maguire be sent off against the Danes.

James said: “The game tonight was full of passion, desire and hunger.” Proud of having made my full senior debut in a testing game like this.

“After the final whistle, I take full responsibility for the red card. Moments like this will make me stronger, to continue improving, I’ll continue to put in 100 percent day in day out!

Thank you for your continuing support. I love all of you! The Wembley meeting with Denmark was the first time that, despite the red card, James had started for England with Southgate happy with his results.

England lost the game and sat two points behind Belgium’s group toppers, while Roberto Martinez’s side in the competition had already been beaten.
