US federal prosecutors also said that rioters who captured the Capitol last week were intending on “capturing and assassinating elected officials.”

It was collected in a recent court filing that contains a memo seeking to keep Jacob Anthony Chansley, who rallied people in custody inside the Capitol using a bullhorn, that he left a message to Vice President Mike Pence warning that “justice is coming only a matter of time.”

The statement added;

Compelling evidence, including Chansley’s own words and actions at the Capitol, supports the Capitol rioters’ intention to capture and murder elected officials within the government of the United States.

As intelligence officials continue to dig deep to uncover what happened, the revelation made by the Justice Department lawyers in Arizona.

Prosecutors and federal agents have started to bring more severe charges related to Capitol crime, including against a former firefighter, Robert Sanford, for tossing a fire extinguisher at the head of one police officer and another, Peter Stager, suspected of hitting another officer with an American flag pole.

In the case of Chansley, prosecutors said the charges “involve active involvement in an uprising attempting to violently overthrow the government of the United States” and cautioned that “the uprising is still ongoing” as law enforcement braces for further protests in Washington and state capitals.

In addition to arguing that Chansley suffered from substance addiction, mental illness and poses a significant risk of flight, the prosecutors further claimed that he “has spoken openly about his belief that he is an alien, a higher being, and that he is here on Earth to ascend to another reality.”

On Friday, January 15, he is scheduled for a detention hearing in federal court in Arizona.

In a different case, Texas court prosecutors argued that a former reservist of the Air Force who brought plastic zip tie-like restraints on the floor of the Senate may have tried to restrain lawmakers.

More than 80 criminal charges have been brought by the Justice Department in connection with the violent protests at the U.S. Capitol last week, in which Trump supporters stormed the building, ransacked offices, and assaulted police in several cases.
