Details of a discussion he had with Anthony Joshua in 2019 were disclosed by Cristiano Ronaldo.
Juventus star Ronaldo is one of the world’s finest footballers, while Joshua is now at the top of boxing’s heavyweight division.
And there’s always a lot of expertise and skill that can be exchanged when two champions meet.
It seems that when Ronaldo and Joshua met in Dubai, it was no different, with an attitude that seemed to be a top talking point.
As part of DAZN’s Parallel Universes, the former Manchester United and Real Madrid star told Gennady Golovkin: “We had the chance to talk in Dubai last year, I was with Joshua, and we had a conversation.”
The age of thirty-three is the age when you begin to feel down.
I don’t want to be in a football sport where people claim, ‘Cristiano was an amazing player, and he’s slow now.’
“That I don’t like. You should take care of your body a lot, the body isn’t an issue that I don’t think is a concern.
It [points to his head] is here, your inspiration, your knowledge. This is, I guess, the hardest one.
“In sport, you may achieve maturity. Take a look at [Roger] Federer in tennis; he’s 37 or 38 years old, and he’s still at his best, and some of them are still in boxing.
I choose boxing or UFC between watching a football match or a boxing or UFC fight.
I suppose I couldn’t have been a fighter, it’s tough. For that, you have to be born with that talent.
Joshua has praised the mental strength of Ronaldo before, saying: “You need mental strength, he’s proven that.”
He’s a family guy, he has that aspect, but he’s still working out and he’s committed to what he’s doing.
So, as a sportsman, he has challenges on the one hand, he has a family on the other, and he balances what he is passionate about.
“He completes all the packages, so for that reason, I like Ronaldo.”
