According to Moscow sources, Russian President Vladimir Putin will resign early next year as questions about his health increase.

Since the last few days, rumors surrounding his resignation have been circulating, and now it has been reported that he could quit as early as January amid fears that he has Parkinson’s disease.

According to observers who have noticed symptoms linked to the condition, the 68-year-old is feared to have the disease.

His legs seem shaky in recent footage of the leader’s sources, while he clutches a chair’s armrest.

It is also rumored that the president’s alleged lover and ex-gymnast Alina Kabaeva, 37, advised him to step down, along with his daughters Maria Vorontsova, 35, Katerina Tikhonova, 34.

He was also seen twitching while holding a pen, reports The Sun.

Speculation surrounding his resignation grew earlier this week after a new law was rushed through the Russian parliament, which would make Putin a senator for life if he left the highest office in the country.

The legislation that Mr Putin himself has introduced would guarantee him a number of official advantages, including lifelong legal immunity.

Professor Valery Solovei, a Moscow political scientist, added to the speculation about his resignation after suggesting that Mr Putin may have Parkinson’s.

“Speaking about the family of Mr Putin pressuring him to step down from the role, Mr. Solovei said,” There is a family, it has a big influence on him. In January, he intends to make his handover plans public, “The Sun reports.

Nonetheless, there were no hints from the President’s staff about the exit.

“Discussing the new legislation, his spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, said:” This is the practice, and it is quite justified, that is being applied in many countries in the world.

“From the point of view of international practice, this is not innovation.”

The move will be seen “as a sign that the groundwork is being laid for an eventual transition of power in Russia,” even though state-run RT media forecasts.

Putin is already the Kremlin’s longest-serving leader since Stalin.

On the last day of 1999, he took over the Russian presidency from Boris Yeltsin-and has been head of state since his close ally, Dmitry Medvedev, occupied the top office, except for four years as prime minister between 2008-12.
