After the players were involved in a 2-1 Premier League loss to URA on Friday, the infection inside the camp was reported.

Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA FC) head coach Mike Mutebi, ahead of the Caf Confederation Cup match against AS Kigali of Rwanda, is known to have contracted coronavirus.

According to Football256, Mutebi registered positive tests among the main players before participating in the first round of the Confederation Cup. Mutebi, as well as his 12 players, were told of the tests after facing the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA FC) in a Premier League match on Friday, the publication says.

At the MTN Omondi Stadium, the Kasasiro Boys were defeated by the tax collectors to mark a second consecutive loss for the 2019 league champions.

Ahead of the critical game against the Rwandan side, Charles Lukwago, Denis Iguma, Kezironi Kizito, Brian Aheebwa, Stefano Mazengo, Samson Kigozi and Hassan Musana are said to have returned favorable tests. Also on the list of infected players is Hassan Matovu, an unused replacement for Sam Ssimbwa’s hand.

Among the representatives of the technical bench who are also afflicted with Covid-19 are assistant coach Badru Kabuye, goalkeeping coach Moses Oloya and first-team coach Jackson Magera.

Football256 further states that before they played URA before learning of the positive test after the Friday game, several players on the list had returned negative tests.

The players and workers were asked to endure self-isolation, further complicating the December and January plans for the Confederation Cup. They will now wait for the following test results to confirm whether the infection is widespread in the camp.
