After the Manchester City striker tested positive for Covid-19, Sergio Aguero is self-insulating.

On social media, the Argentinian reported that he had contracted the disease.

After a recent outbreak in their squad in the past few weeks, Aguero is the newest City player to suffer from coronavirus.

On Wednesday evening, Pep Guardiola’s side were in action as they defeated Aston Villa 2-0 in the Premier League at the Etihad.

Once again, City played without Aguero, with the goalscorer having experienced a tumultuous 12 months because of constant injury woes.

This season, the 32-year-old has made only nine outings for his side, playing just 260 minutes in total.

Before a hamstring kept him sidelined in November, a knee injury postponed his start of the campaign.

Since January 3, when he came off the bench to play four minutes against Chelsea in a 3-1 victory, Aguero has not been in City’s game day squad.

It seems like he won’t be coming back any time soon, as the striker follows medical advice by staying away from the training ground in City.

Aguero went to Twitter to say, “I was self-isolating after near contact, and the new test I took was positive for COVID 19.”

“I’ve had some symptoms and I’m following the doctor’s treatment orders. All, take note! ”
