Seven farmers killed, While 30 others, abducted by bandits in Katsina

Seven farmers, including a nursing woman, were killed over the weekend by alleged bandits who assaulted three villages, Unguwar Maigayya, Tashar Bama, and Dogun Muazu of Katsina State, Northwest Nigeria’s Sabuwa Local Government District.

During the plenary session of the legislature on Monday, November 30, Ibrahim Danjuma Machika, the lawmaker representing the region in the Katsina State House of Assembly, announced the killings.

Machika told his colleagues that the attack occurred in broad daylight, adding that during the attacks, over 30 villagers were abducted.

When terrorists are now carrying out attacks in our villages in broad daylight, our people now live in utter fear. They murdered civilians, took their belongings away, and captured as many people as they could,’ he added.

The lawmaker reported that the attacks had become a regular affair and the community people were living in terror as such.

Similarly, Safana Constituency lawmaker Abduljalal Haruna Runka and Dutsinma Constituency member Mohammed Khamis said assaults on communities in the state by gunmen have become worrisome.

Assembly Speaker Tasi’u Zango denounced the attacks and instructed the House Secretary to forward to the Governor, Aminu Masari, the members’ stance on the immediate need to improve community security.
