Sir Alex Ferguson has stated that during his time as manager of Manchester United, he only had four world-class players.

For decades, his Manchester United team dominated the Premier League, amassing trophies along the way.

As a mark of appreciation for the 27 years he spent in the dugout, the Scotsman has a stand named after him at Old Trafford.

A series of FA Cups, League Cups, and Champions League trophies accompanied the 13 Premier League victories.

Wayne Rooney, David Beckham, Gary Neville, and Roy Keane were among the biggest and greatest names in England in Fergie’s team.

The big guy, on the other hand, did not mark any of them as world-class, awarding the title to only four players under his watch.

Sir Alex mentioned the celebrities he coached in his book ‘Leading.’

He said, “If you read the papers or listen to the television pundits, we seem to be awash in ‘world-class’ footballers.”

“I don’t want to disparage or criticize any of the great or really nice footballers who played for me at United during the course of my 26-year career, but there were just four world-class players: Cantona, Giggs, Ronaldo, and Scholes.

“And Cristiano, out of the four, was like a Christmas tree ornament.”

Rooney and Beckham, as well as Rio Ferdinand and Peter Schmeichel, are notable omissions, but Ferguson maintained they were just “great players.”

“However, these players rose beyond all of that,” he said.

“Ryan and Scholes were two of the younger generation’s best players, and they both had a long career ahead of them.

“Are there any players who have played in the Premier League for the whole season and performed at a high level? There aren’t any, none at all.

“Of course, Ronaldo was an absolute genius on the field.”
