Snapchat permanently bans President Trump’s account on it’s platform


According to a release from the website, US President Donald Trump has been permanently barred from Snapchat.

Snap’s decision to permanently ban Trump from the social network comes after similar bans were issued on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Twitch, and other internet platforms.

YouTube suspended Trump’s channel for seven days on Tuesday for a video that breached its rules banning incitement to violence.

“Last week we announced an indefinite suspension of President Trump’s Snapchat (SNAP) account, and have been assessing what long term action is in the best interest of our Snapchat community,” a spokesman for Snapchat said.

“In the interest of safety, and based on his desire to subvert misinformation, hate speech, and incite violence, which are serious violations of our guidelines, we have took the decision to permanently terminate his account.”

News of Trump’s Snapchat ban comes after he became the first American president to be impeached twice in history, for his role in inciting a mob of rioters that stormed the U.S. On Jan. 6 at the Capitol.
