The Red Devils boss expects a lot of the 18-year-old after completing the move from Atalanta to Old Trafford.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admired the maturity of Amad Diallo’s new Manchester United and claims that the winger has special abilities.
This week, in a contract that could grow to £ 37 million ($ 50 m), the Red Devils sealed the signing of Diallo, 18.
Before making the move to Old Trafford, the Ivorian made only five senior appearances for Atalanta – two this season – but Solskjaer is already confident he would become a valuable asset for his side.
“He’s a teenage boy who we’ve observed for a few years. We’ve seen him here play in the UEFA Youth Club for the kids. He’s got special abilities of course,” Solskjaer told the club’s website.
Very good balance, reads the game very well, and seems really mature in his decision-making for a young child. A boy we’re excited to continue creating.
“Of course we know he’s a young boy who’s going to learn his trade and come into a new country and new style of football, so we’ve got to be patient with him.”
Diallo has been used mostly on the right-wing at Atalanta, but Solskjaer has not ruled out giving him a chance on the left when he makes his breakthrough in England.
In many positions, I think he’s relaxed. The right-wing is probably the role he’s played the most, coming inside with his left foot,”I think he’s confident in many positions. Right-wing is probably the position he’s played the most, with his left foot coming inside,”
“Even so, in the Champions League for Atalanta he played on the left – he cut inside it and he went outside, so he can play various positions for us. Let’s give him time to find his feet here in England and we’ll likely see him soon.”
However, it may be a while before he is given a place in Solskjaer’s side, as the Norwegian coach needs to give him time to adjust to his new environment.
