Motjeka Madisha, a 25-year-old South African star, died in a car accident in the early hours of today, Sunday 13 December.
In the early hours of Sunday morning in Johannesburg, two days after his former Downs teammate Anele Ngcongca was laid to rest, having also died in a car crash in Durban on November 23, the Mamelodi Sundowns and Bafana Bafana centre-back were involved in the incident.
In a statement, the South African police who reported the incident stated;
It happened at Zuurfontein Lane, Chloorkop, next to ABC Auto parts, at around 02:00. The site of a white BMW crash… Two car occupants were burned and one of them was unrecognized and certified dead by Ekurhuleni Emergency Services.
The car was going to Tembisa from the direction of Kempton Park. Apparently, the driver lost control and the car struck a steel board with the backside showing a pole and caught fire.
This season, Madisha was a key player for Downs, featuring in five PSL games and Bloemfontein Celtic’s MTN8 quarter-final loss. He is part of the national football team of South Africa as well.
