Teacher, 55, banned from the classroom after taking his students to a strip club

On a Central American tour, a teacher was barred from the classroom for taking students to a strip club.

Richard Glenn, a 55-year-old computer science specialist, had been working at the £9,800-per-term Longridge Towers independent school in Berwick-upon-Tweed, Northumberland, for the past 12 years.

According to The Sun, he was in charge of a party of 16 to 18-year-olds when he got intoxicated with them and took them to a strip club.

In their shared hotel suite, the married father-of-two even revealed himself to the female trip chief.

He allegedly told one student, “I’m going to kick your f****ing head in,” and added, “I’m going to f****ing kill you,” during a drinking session.

A professional assault hearing was informed that he was too intoxicated the next morning to recall the threats.

In July 2019, the expedition company’s organizers had to send him home two weeks early from the journey.

He confessed to improper professional behavior and actions that could bring teaching into disrepute during the misconduct trial. He was permanently barred from teaching and would be unable to apply for a teaching job for the next three years.

Caroline Tilley, who chaired the panel, said: ‘Mr. Glenn was, at various times during the trip, under the influence of alcohol, and therefore not in a position to adequately take decisions or act in loco parentis.’
