Twitter suspends Iranian Supreme Leader’s account, after calling for Trump’s assassination

Twitter suspended a Twitter account attributed to Iranian Leader Ayatollah Khamenei after the handle posted a picture of Donald Trump playing golf under a huge drone and calling for the assassination of the former US President.

The tweet called for an assault on Trump in retaliation for the murder of his top military officer, Gen Qasem Soleimani, last year.

The Iranian account tweet refers to Gen Soleimani, who was assassinated a year ago in Baghdad by a US drone.

Iran supported pro-Iranian insurgent groups under Soleimani’s leadership, increased its military presence in Iraq and Syria, and coordinated Syria’s offensive in its long-running civil war against rebel groups.

It reads, “Vengeance is inevitable,”

The post made on Thursday is now inaccessible for Iranian time, and the suspension by Twitter came hours after they were criticized for not immediately suspending the account, but for suspending Trump for provoking the mob that attacked the Capitol on January 6.
