In a gruesome injury, UFC fighter Ramiz Brahimaj had his ear almost ripped off his head.
It was so bad that even Max Griffin, his opponent, apologized to him for causing such a horrendous incident.
It happened as Brahimaj made his debut in the sport in a welterweight clash at UFC Las Vegas 13.
An early flurry of punches from Griffin saw him caught in a clinch with his rival during the third round.
Commentators immediately noticed that something was wrong, spotting a brutal elbow that had captured Brahimaj.
With the 27-year-old gushing blood, the referee immediately terminated the match.
“Right now, his ear is literally falling off his head,” said Dominick Cruz in the commentary.
“Ghost-blowing. That’s how risky this is, what we’re doing here isn’t a game.
Griffin was also grossed out by the injury after the match and apologized to his rival.
“I was trying to find my distance in the first round, but he did well to slip out, and my right was missing,” he said.
But I began to have some more fun, and to have a range and to open up.
“His ear dropped out of his head, I guess. I apologize for that. It’s been bad, bro.
“I just needed volume, and the last thing I remember when the volume started coming was I looked back at his ear, like, ‘Oh, it’s done.'”
On social media, the fight quickly went viral, with a number of fans shocked by the horrific nature of the injury.
“One said,” I just saw a UFC fighter’s ear goddamn near fall off. I’m not going to repost it.
“While another wrote:” Just saw the ear of someone in the ufc come off. My appetite for the year goes there.
“And a third said,” So, at UFC tonight, there was just one ear knocked off.
“I’m not going to post the video, but man, now his ear’s backward.”
What have I seen before ….. “Max Griffin just elbowed his opponent’s ear off,” said this fan.
