Horta coach, Victor Valdes has a “lack of modesty” and feels that when it comes to his managerial style, he is “playing FIFA,” former player Sergi Moreno says.

Ahead of the 2020-21 campaign, the former Barcelona goalkeeper took charge of the Tercera Division outfit and supervised a mixed start to the new season, taking only two wins from his first seven games in charge.

That form led the club, under the leadership of Valdés, to suddenly fire three players this week, including Moreno, who had only arrived from Sant Andreu ahead of the current term, with five games under his belt ahead of his departure.

The 28-year-old has now blasted the former national team shot-stopper, talking to local station BTV, saying that Valdes treats his squad as if they were cards in a tournament.

We were in the gym, and Victor came in at the end of the session and told us that we weren’t in his plans anymore, that we weren’t what he was looking for in terms of football,”We were in the gym and at the end of the session, Victor came in and told us that we weren’t in his plans anymore, that we weren’t what he was looking for footballing-wise,”

[He told us to pick up our stuff and leave, that we weren’t going to practice because he wanted other players to sign. At least clubs should warn you and give you time to react.

[Valdes has no modesty and he’s] self-centered. He feels he’s playing FIFA as if we were playing cards as players.

Moreno further rallied over the abrupt exit from a game where he has made his career, stressing the manager’s arrogance, adding: “We’re people before anything else and, with Victor Valdes, I felt treated like a piece of sh*t.

“I make a living off of this and now how am I going to pay for everything I have to pay?”

Last year, Valdes returned to Camp Nou as a youth coach, enjoying a fruitful decade-plus career with the Blaugrana before finishing his playing days in English football.

He only lasted three months before being let go and then returned this year to the management of the Tercera Division.

He was a six-time domestic champion in La Liga during his playing days at Barca and was also a member of Spain’s 2010 World Cup and Euro 2012 winning squads.
