Vatican starts investigation after the Pope’s Instagram page, likes a racy model’s photo


After his official page ‘liked’ a raunchy photo of a scantily clad Brazilian bikini model, Natalia Garibotto, the Vatican opened an investigation into the Pope’s Instagram account.

The photo of Oct. 5 shows Garibotto wearing a racy outfit with the caption, “I can teach you anything or two,” and a smiling emoji of the devil.

According to the Catholic News Agency, Francis’ checked the Instagram account, Franciscus, was one of the pages that liked Natalia Garibotto’s photo before it suddenly “disliked” the image last week.


The Brazilian model, who has been celebrating the pope’s supposed endorsement also took to Twitter afterward and wrote, “At least I’m going to heaven.”

In another tweet, she wrote: “Brb on my way to the Vatican.”


The Brazilian model spoke to Barstool Sports, saying, “My mom might hate my ass pictures, but the Pope is double-tapping.”

The Catholic News Agency reported in a statement: “The image “liked” by the confirmed account of Pope Francis, Franciscus, features Brazilian model and Twitch streamer Natalia Garibotto wearing a lingerie outfit resembling a school uniform.” The mostly-uncovered posterior of Garibotto is visible in the image. The exact time of the like” is unknown, but on November 13 it was noticeable and confirmed by news outlets.”

On November 14, after CNA asked the Holy See Press Office for comment, the photograph was unlike this one. An official for the Press Office of the Holy See refused to comment on the incident.

The outlet was told by sources close to the Vatican leadership that an internal investigation is underway to decide how the “like” occurred.
