With religious villagers having arrived from all around to worship it, a disfigured calf born with five legs has become a local celebrity.

Images show villagers going to gather on a field on January 6 to take turns touching an unusual-looking cow in the province of Surin, northeastern Thailand.

The camera pans to show the poor cow whose extra leg can be seen protruding from her back.

There are also two hoofs in its fifth leg, which are intertwined with one another.

Unbelievably, while grazing with her mother, the two-year-old calf named Kamkoo is otherwise healthy and can potter around the field.

As the Chinese calendar states that 2021 is the year of the Ox, a close relative to the cows, the family who own the cow believes it will bring them good luck.

“I had a dream that my late father advised me to take care of this calf and put 65 on the lottery ticket,” Thongjan Glangvichit, who raised the calf, said.

His wife, Bualee, said: “I dreamed of a person coming and telling me that the winning lottery number would be 551-465.”

And it’s not just the owners of Kamkoo who believe they’re lucky.

Local residents say they have had dreams of their kin telling them lottery numbers since the calf was born, which they will use for their tickets as animal encounters are thought to be lucky.

The deformity of the calf is thought to be caused by plymelia, a birth defect that in most land-dwelling animals causes an extra limb to form.
