Three suspects arrested in Rivers State’s father’s church of Governor Nyesom Wike for allegedly detonating explosives said they were engaged in the act to get juicy appointments in the banned Biafra State Indigenous People (IPOB).
When they were paraded by the State Police Commissioner, Joseph Mukan, at the police headquarters in Port Harcourt, the suspects made confessional remarks.
Mukan recalled that the command received a distress call on November 29 that a church located at 25 Azikiwe Street was under assault and stormed the place immediately and arrested the suspects.
The police boss said the suspects disclosed that they carried out the attack because once the republic is remembered, they were given juicy appointments in Biafra.
He said that preliminary police investigations found that IPOB members were deployed to the state to carry out the chaos, adding that the perpetrators were deployed to strike the area of Mile 2.
“We got a distress call that there’s an explosion at Christian Universal Church International, Azikiwe, Mile 2,” Mukan said. We mobilized our bomb expert team to the scene.
We found out when we got there that there was a blast. No life was lost there. These three suspects were arrested by our defense partners, the Vigilante. We took them and made valuable confessions about them.
“They said that they were number six. They confessed that they were IPOB owners. That they were being zoned to various parts of the state. That they are in this condition everywhere.
“They are Owudinjo Development, 37, from Etche, Rivers State. For this mission, Apuro Victor, 25, was from Ebonyi State, and John Okorie, 38, was from Abia State. They are all over the state, according to them.
Although we are trailing their sponsors, they will soon be taken to court. IPOB has told them that they will be policy-makers in the government if IPOB is accomplished.
Owudinjo, several of the suspects, verified their membership of the proscribed IPOB, adding that they had been hired to execute the act.
“Owudinjo said: “We have been contracted to perform the act. That night we got there and we exploded an explosive.
This is my first assignment since I joined the IPOB. I haven’t killed anything before. I was told I wouldn’t get anything in the group if I didn’t engage in the operations. Nice office, they promised us.
Apuro Victor, also speaking, said The whole thing was programmed.” We have one Chinedu sent us. Where he came from, I don’t know. I’m an IPOB member.
The object of the dream was not to kill anyone, which is why we did it at night. I haven’t done such a thing before. Forgive me, please. Before, I was not interested in violent activities. It’s been configured here.
