We Celebrated Christmas And New Year Peacefully Without ‘Rain Of Bombs’ – Lai Mohammed praises Nigeria Army

Facing criticism of their performance by some Nigerians and international bodies, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, Minister of Information and Culture, praised the Armed Forces and other security agencies for their courage and contribution to the war against terror.

He said Nigeria was only celebrating another Christmas and New Year without ‘rain of bombs’ due to the joint efforts of the security agencies.

Speaking to reporters in Lagos, the Minister said that under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) – led federal government – many of the critics have overlooked the situation in the country in 2010, 2011 and 2012.

He said “It is tragic that we have failed to remember where we were regarding the condition of instability only a couple a very long time back. Allow me to specify a few occurrences that will place things in a superior point of view”.

” Thanks to our security offices, we have recently praised another Christmas and New Year without a downpour of bombs. Few would recollect that in 2010, 2011 and 2012, Christmas eve or Christmas Day assaults left hundreds dead or harmed”.

“What might be said about the assault on the UN Complex in Abuja in August 2011; the bombarding of media houses in Abuja and Kaduna in April 2012 and the executing of around 40 understudies in Mubi, Adamawa State, in October 2012?”

“Have we failed to remember that more than 80 towns and towns were assaulted and wrecked, with losses, by Boko Haram in Borno State alone? Have wefailed to remember the consistent assaults on military and security developments like Giwa Barracks (Maiduguri), Mohammed Kur Barracks (Bama), Monguno Barracks (Monguno), Airforce Base (Maiduguri), New Prison (Maiduguri)also, various police headquarters?”.

” The way that these assaults and bombings have halted is a declaration to the advancement we have made in handling illegal intimidation which, incidentally, isn’t care for ordinary fighting”.

“The stoppage of the assaults didn’t occur unintentionally. It is in this manner naughty for anybody to disapprove the advancement we have made in handling uncertainty, in building and redesigning foundation and in broadening the economy, among others”.

” The central government dismisses this portrayal of Nigeria as a ‘coming up short’ state, which is a mix of the unrealistic reasoning of cynics and the insidious intrigues of the individuals who don’t wish Nigeria well”.

” The government has supported the battle against fear mongers, crooks, ruffians and other criminal components the nation over particularly in the North East and the North West Regions.
