Thanks to a late header from Harry Kane at The Hawthorns, Tottenham made it four league wins in a row on the road.

Harry Kane scored his 150th goal in the Premier League to snatch a 1-0 win on Sunday for Tottenham at West Brom.

Jose Mourinho’s side delivered a largely flat attacking performance against the Baggies, despite beginning with Kane, Son Heung-min and Gareth Bale in the attack.

Indeed, in order to prevent Slaven Bilic’s men from taking the lead in the second half, they needed a good Hugo Lloris save and an intervention from the left-hand post in the second half.

However, when he headed Matt Doherty’s delivery beyond Sam Johnstone, Kane secured a fourth win in a row away from home in the top flight.

Son, who had a lot of time and space in the penalty area but eventually saw a shot blocked by Semi Ajayi, dropped the best of the early chances.

Karlan Grant nodding a strong Darnell Furlong cross wide and Eric Dier going well off the line with Grant lurking, West Brom twice came close to a breakthrough.

It took Spurs to record a shot on target until the hour mark, Sergio Reguilon stinging goalkeeper Sam Johnstone’s palms with a speculative effort from outside the box.

Giovani Lo Celso had a great opportunity to make a fast impact on the wounded Tanguy Ndombele, but hooked his shot wide from barely 10 yards out.

Conor Gallagher clipped the post from the edge of the box and, as West Brom’s best chances went begging, Lloris responded superbly to tip away a Grant header following a corner.

Johnstone thought he had won a share of the spoils, saving Carlos Vinicius well below his right to keep out a shot, but his indecision as Doherty swung in a high ball allowed Kane to lead in the winner.

What does it mean? The Kane milestone goal sends top Spurs

Mourinho’s side soared to the top of the table and knew if Leicester City and Liverpool failed to win later on Sunday, they would remain there for the international break. Their unbeaten run in the league now stands at seven, regardless of that result, although West Brom remains winless and out of eight games on just three points.

Kane, who crossed 200 goals this week in all of Spurs’ competitions, is in the top flight at 150 in just 218 appearances. That tally was reached more quickly by just Alan Shearer (212 games) and Sergio Aguero (217).

Giant Ajayi for Baggies

When West Brom unloaded Ahmed Hegazi, Bilic was deeply unhappy, but Ajayi has found some fine form ever since. With a team-high five tackles, four interceptions, three blocks and 11 possession gains, the Nigeria center-back was outstanding against Kane, Son and Bale.

Anonymous Bale

Last week, Bale scored the winner against Brighton and Hove Albion, but since rejoining Spurs, he offered little in his first league start, collecting only two shots and attempting only 21 passes, the least of any Spurs starting XI.
