Arsene Wenger, the former Arsenal boss, thinks a European Super League is a bad idea.
Wenger expected a breakaway European league almost a decade ago and vehemently opposed it at the time.
The Frenchman is still opposed to the idea now that it has become a reality.
Wenger told talkSPORT, “I would suggest it’s a bad idea.”
“Football must remain unified. It is the most important thing, and it should be focused on sporting merits and overall reverence for European football’s history.”
Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool, and Tottenham Hotspur are among England’s “top six” clubs that have signed up for the Super League.
“I personally believe that this proposal would not go far,” Wenger cautioned.
