On Tuesday, former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose pointed out the reasons why President Muhammadu Buhari should be impeached by the National Assembly.
Fayose said that to recover its powers and dignity, the National Assembly should impeach Buhari.
The People’s Democratic Party, PDP, chieftain said in a series of tweets that the federal lawmakers had surrendered their powers to Buhari.
The President should be impeached if the NASS wants to regain its power and integrity,” according to Fayose. But is this NASS willing to bite?
When you give a gun to a son whose mental abilities you do not trust, you’re going to end up staring him down. As it is the President is now losing the NASS constitutional legislative privileges and he is now more or less the head of the three arms of government.
The NASS must avoid arrogating the powers already lost to President Buhari for themselves.
Or did they not turn the President into a deity who must not be challenged and surrender his rights to him? Have they forgotten how they were shunned by the Customs GC?
His argument comes at a time when the National Assembly was snubbed by Buhari.
Due to the spate of insecurity in the region, the lawmakers invited the president.
Despite Lauretta Onochie’s presidential assistant stating that Buhari will comply with the invitation, Abubakar Malami, the Federal Attorney General, stressed that the National Assembly lacked the powers to summon Buhari on insecurity issues.
