Since clearing the obstacle course, a Wipeout candidate has passed away.

TMZ records that after finishing the course, a male contestant required medical treatment on Wednesday.

Sources told the US newspaper that the on-site ambulance personnel who called the paramedics attended him.

The contestant was admitted to the hospital and died there afterwards.

Law enforcement sources told TMZ that they received a cardiac arrest call shortly before noon on Wednesday, and medics on set had already begun using the contestant’s defibrillator, who after finishing the course developed chest pain.

Two paramedics were confirmed to have been on-site, plus a safety producer and a paramedic coordinator.

Since originally airing on ABC from 2008 to 2014, Wipeout is having a forthcoming revival on TBS.

Endemol Shine North America, the distribution firm, added: “We offer our heartfelt condolences to the family and our thoughts are with them at this time.”

Wipeout is an American TV game featuring players competing in what was called the “world’s largest” obstacle course.

When the show returns to our screens, John Cena and Nicole Byer will act as hosts, with Camille Kostek as the field host.

John Henson and John Anderson initially hosted and reported on the program, while Jill Wagner served as the reporter on site.

For one season, the temporary reporter was Vanessa Lachey.

Matt Kunitz and Scott Larsen are the creators and executive producers.

The show’s distribution was handled by Endemol Shine.

Wipeout was also adapted into a video series, Wipeout: The Game, released on June 22, 2010, along with the premiere of season three.

There are 23 different characters for the player to select from in the game.

There are four character types, with each category providing for the player a certain amount of “Speed and Strength” which varies depending on their body sizes.
